Port Moody and East Vancouver-based artist Tatjana Mirkov-Popovicki draws on disparate stories from her homeland of Serbia and her life in Canada as she seeks to reconcile her relationship to place. Her painting, mixed media, and textile works are informed by ethnographic histories, Balkan folklore, and empathetic observation.

Mirkov-Popovicki has exhibited her work extensively in solo and group exhibitions in BC, including Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Vancouver; Ferry Building Gallery, West Vancouver; Michael Wright Art Gallery, Port Coquitlam; North Van Arts Art Rental Program; West Vancouver Community Arts Council; Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre; PoMoArts, Port Moody; and Gibsons Public Art Gallery. She is a 2025 MFA candidate at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

Tatjana lives on the ancestral and unceded homelands of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), qʼʷa:n̓ ƛʼən̓ (Kwantlen), qiqéyt (Qayqayt) and Stó:lō Peoples, and extends her appreciation for the opportunity to reside on this territory.
